Woni Education Trust Fund is an initiative of Woni Safaris, founded in 2003 by William Muli, Christopher Nthiani and the late Magdalene Ngina, they were volunteering in the Ngunyumu and Amboseli village. They soon realized that despite their efforts to help the poor, the situation was worsening. We saw that there is a direct connection between poverty and the environment together with quality education that wasn’t being addressed by traditional aid organizations. They understood that since most of the world’s poor are rural poor, and are therefore dependent on receiving proper education and the land for survival, any long-term solution to poverty would have to take into account how deforestation, and the resultant loss in soil fertility, affected income potential. Woni Safaris founded Woni Educational Trust Fund to bring a holistic approach to the fight against poverty that includes environmental, economic as well as quality education. We believe that this three-part approach is the key to creating lasting, sustainable change, and we use a variety of techniques such as business skills training and community development to empower the poor to solve their own problems. We invite you to join and leave your foot prints in the sands of life.
